Or feeling the thrill on the sidelines of a fast-paced drag race. Or even just having a good old yarn with fellow revheads about their latest projects and where to get hard-to-find parts from. That’s why we’ve put together this list of some of the best car shows in Queensland that you can attend to finish off 2018.
The QLD Hardtop Hustle 2018.
When: 21st October 2018.
Where: Old Petrie Town, Whiteside.
Fans of the Blue Oval rejoice! It’s time to buff up your Ford Falcon or Landau hardtop and hit the road for Old Petrie Town in Whiteside. Here you’ll find a myriad of classic Fords in the Show n Shine as well as market stalls, live entertainment, delicious food and even jumping castles, face painting and rides for the kids. The event is just a short, twenty-minute drive from Chermside. Perfect for a family day out!
25th Annual Morris Minor Display Day.
When: 21st October 2018.
Where: Ormiston State School, Ormiston.
Not a Ford fan? We’ve got an alternative motor-related activity for your mid-October weekend. And it’s all about celebrating the Mini. All types of Morris Minor and BMC vehicles are welcome, as is the general public to admire them! Free morning tea will be provided, and there will also be a chance to go in the draw to win some great prizes. Keen Morris lovers will savour the opportunity to chat to like-minded enthusiasts and support the Brisbane Southside Morris Minor Club in preserving these excellent little cars.
Chrome Bar Bonanza.
When: 28th October 2018.
Where: Lakeside Park, Kurwongbah
Up for a cruise session around Queensland Raceways’ Lakeside Park? As the name suggests, if you own a car originally built with chrome bars, you can join the convoy. It doesn’t matter if they’re no longer fitted to your vehicle or have been painted over – bring her along anyway! The event will also include a show n shine, ⅛ mile drags and plenty of kids entertainment. Lakeside Park is about a half hour drive from North Brisbane suburbs such as Everton Park and Mitchelton.
Nostalgia Drags and Hot Rod Reunion.
When: 4th November 2018.
Where: Willowbank Raceway, Willowbank.
Classic car and drag racing enthusiasts will flock to QLD’s notorious Willowbank Raceway in early November for the chance to see some seriously impressive vintage vehicles. Watch heart-thumpingly fast races, gawk over custom designed cars in the show n shine, and have a good yarn with other revheads over at the trade stalls. If you’ve got a beaut of a vehicle sitting in your garage, why not enter one of the many competitions yourself? You can find more info here. Happy to spend the day as a spectator? There’s plenty to keep you occupied! Willowbank is only a fifty-minute drive from Brisbane’s northern suburbs such as Aspley, so you’ll have plenty of time for exploring.
Wheels of the Century Automotive Show.
When: 11th November 2018.
Where: Redcliffe Showgrounds, Redcliffe.
Looking for a car show with a little bit of everything? If you’re an all-round motoring fanatic, there will be plenty of vehicles to admire, from unique vintage classics to trucks, motorcycles, utes, omnibuses and muscle cars. Local car clubs and private collectors alike will be exhibiting their one-of-a-kind automobiles. There will also be trade stalls and live music for entertainment. The proceeds raised during the day will go towards the running of Clontarf Beach Scout Group, which has been holding this fundraising event for 18 years!
