Chermside Hills Reserves comprise of three lovely eucalypt forests in Chermside West and McDowell. There are lots of bushwalking tracks to choose from, ranging from easy to difficult. Bushwalkers can enjoy native Australian flora and fauna and even do a little bird watching (a whopping 115 bird species have been recorded in this area!). One of the highlights of the reserves, however, is the view from Spider Hill Lookout, which has a stunning view of Moreton Bay, Brisbane City and the surrounding mountains.
Have a dip at Chermside swimming pool and water park

While the water parks on the Gold Coast are immensely fun for the occasional visit, they’re too far away, and often too expensive to make a regular weekend occurrence. If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, Chermside swimming pool and water park is a much more convenient and affordable option. It may not have quite the adrenaline-inducing vigour of Wet’n’Wild, but it still has a decent range of enjoyable water slides and a great splashing pool with a lilypad game for toddlers. Westfield Chermside is HUGE! There’s no doubt about it. In fact, it’s one of the largest shopping centres in Australia, so you’re bound to find something that you like! And with the new outdoor dining precinct, cinema, escape rooms and tenpin bowling alley, you can easily spend a whole day there. Oh, and there’s also a spa if you’re worn out and need a little foot massage after all of that shopping!
Explore the HMQS Gayundah Wreck at Woody Point
Best weekend activity for: beach-lovers and history buffs.
For those who would like to adventure further afield, Woody Point is about a half hour drive from Chermside and will take you to the beautiful Queensland Coastline near Redcliffe. Here you will find the remains of the HMQS Gayundah, which protected the Queensland coast for many years, sweeping the ocean floor for mines until the end of WWI. The highlight of its career, however, was no doubt when it became the first Australian warship to implement ship-to-shore wireless telegraphy! Even if you don’t have a keen interest in Australian naval history, the wreckage is an intriguing sight, and the beach makes for a lovely stroll.
